Is the New Clarins Opalescence Face & Blush Powder Out of This World? - Makeup and Beauty Blog
Took me a while to say goodbye to this gorgeous blueprint. I didn't want to mess up the pretty pan.
Is it just me (probably), but doesn't it expect a petty astronomical/sci-fi?
Whoa! Did yous see that? I idea I saw a satellite fly by… 🙂
I really don't think it's supposed to be interstellar. I think Clarins was going for graphic pattern.
I like it — the contrasting lines and circles. Very artsy-fartsy, isn't it?
I must say…kudos to Clarins for being so consistent with their limited edition blushes. I can pretty much e'er count on them to 1) never leave me looking like a deranged clown, 2) smell keen (this one smells like jasmine) and iii) be really easy to use.
Opalescence Face & Blush Pulverisation ($40) is no exception.
Technically, it's designed to be used equally an all-over face powder, a profile powder and a blush. Just dust the matte pinkish beige on your shiny spots, sculpt your cheekbones with the matte tan, and add a little colour to the apples of your cheeks with the matte coral. (The shimmery gold, by the way, is an overspray and disappears later on the start few swipes.)
Rather than using the shades individually, I've been swirling a castor in the pan and mixing everything together, which I do because I detect the separate dark-brown and coral regions too tiny for my blush and bronzer brushes. Combined, the colors create a lovely neat coral matte blush. I apply one time in the morn, and I'm good for the rest of the 24-hour interval.
Guys/gals from fair to medium skin tones should be able to rock this well, but damsels with very deep tones might want to pass. It just may not create the same fresh-faced effect.
Overall, I like what Clarins has washed here, but for $twoscore, I'd welcome more dazzle and flash.
If you're a makeup minimalist who gravitates (I even so have that sci-fi-ish design on my brain) toward natural cheek looks and don't want to bargain with having to touch up through the day, Opalescence could suit you lot well.
